Oh The Noise!

Isn't your hearing supposed to go when you get older?

Everything seems louder to me.  Kids.  The T.V. The sound of someone breathing, chewing, living...

Tonight, every time Emily talked, I snapped at her to be quiet.  I think I hurt her feelings, but it seemed like she was yelling in my ear.  Fia was OFF. THE. WALL. hyper.  But she also seemed insanely loud.  I even felt loud when I talked.  All I wanted on the drive home was for everyone to just shut the frack up.  Of course, that didn't happen.  Sydney rambled on about dance.  Emily did everything she could to change the subject. (Fia was thankfully asleep before we got to the interstate.)  Cody couldn't be left out.  He was constantly pinging and calling my phone and getting mad that I'd either ignored it or had Sydney answer because I was driving.

But even now, with everyone in the house asleep, I swear I can hear the neighbors breathing.  Maybe I was in a freak lab accident that I don't remember?

I think tomorrow, I'll barricade myself in my room, mute my laptop, and hope the stroke of the keys isn't too loud while I play on twitter work.

  1. Oh boy, I hate those loud days too when even the rustle of a news paper or the squeak of a shoe sends you into a rage and all you want is some peace and quiet, then when you eventually get it you can't even stand the sound of your own breathing or the sound of yourself swallowing.
